About us

A Kansas City family business, started in 2023

We started Sahara because too many people around us were missing appointments just because they didn't have a way to get there.

We're hiring drivers. Kansas City area.

Our story

How Sahara got started

Founded

November 2023

Kansas City, Missouri

Family owned

Run by the family that started it.

Minority owned

Proud to represent our community.

We kept hearing the same thing from neighbors and relatives. They had the appointment. They had the insurance. They just didn't have a ride.

So in November 2023 we started Sahara Transportation here in Kansas City. The idea was simple: show up on time, be kind, and make the whole thing easy. No confusing billing, no waiting on hold with an out-of-state call center, no being left at the curb.

Most of our riders go to dialysis, physical therapy, specialist visits, or home from the hospital. Some ride with us three times a week. We get to know them, and they get to know their drivers.

Today we drive in Kansas City, Joplin, Springfield and St. Louis, and we're working on bringing the same service to Kansas.

What we believe

Our mission is to make sure no one misses care because they couldn't get there

  1. 01

    Treat people like family

We drive every rider the way we'd want our own parents driven. That means patience, respect, and never rushing anyone.

  2. 02

Be there when we said we would

Missing a ride can mean missing treatment. We plan ahead, leave early, and call if anything changes.

  3. 03

    Keep it simple

One phone call to book. We handle the insurance. No surprise bills.

  4. 04

    Stay local

We live here too. When you call Sahara, you're talking to people from Kansas City, not a call center.
